Bellevue, NE - School Bus Crash Leaves Teen Critically Injured at Harvell Dr & Galvin Rd

Bellevue, NE (August 12, 2024) – A serious crash occurred Monday morning involving a Bellevue school bus and a Nissan Altima, resulting in two teenagers being injured. The incident, reported by Bellevue Police Department (BPD), happened around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Harvell Dr and Galvin Rd.

According to BPD, a 17-year-old female was driving the Nissan Altima with a 15-year-old male passenger when they collided with the school bus. The crash caused significant damage to the vehicle and both teenagers were transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The passenger is reported to be in critical condition, while the driver’s injuries are less severe.

The school bus, driven by a 79-year-old female, did not have any students onboard at the time of the crash and the driver was unharmed. Emergency services, including firefighters, were on the scene to assist with the extraction of the damaged vehicles and to manage the resulting traffic disruptions.

The collision led to major traffic impacts at the busy intersection, with westbound Harvell Dr and southbound Galvin Rd being closed temporarily. Bellevue Police urged the public to avoid the area while the situation was under control and the investigation was ongoing.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
