Dodge Co, NE (October 26, 2024) – A tragic three-vehicle crash occurred on Friday, October 25, northeast of Fremont, resulting in the death of one individual. The incident, reported by Dodge County officials, occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Highway 275 at Luther Road.
According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, a red GMC pickup truck was traveling southbound on Luther Rd when the driver crossed HWY 275. This action led to a collision with an eastbound Mustang, which struck the pickup’s driver’s side. The force of the impact caused the GMC to veer into a ditch south of HWY 275, while the Mustang spun and collided with another vehicle, a GMC Yukon.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene. The driver of the GMC pickup was transported to Methodist Fremont Health, where they succumbed to their injuries. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The crash is still under investigation; however, authorities have stated that speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from multiple agencies, including the Fremont Fire Department, Fremont Rural Fire Department, Fremont Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, and Nebraska Game and Parks. Numerous “Good Samaritans” also stopped to help at the scene.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends affected by this tragic incident.
