Johnson Co, NE – Man Killed in Semi-Truck Crash on Hwy 136 & 610 Ave

Johnson Co, NE (January 7, 2025) – A fatal semi-truck crash occurred on January 6, west of Tecumseh, claiming the life of a Beatrice man. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office reported that the collision involving a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Highway 136 near 610 Avenue. 

The driver of the pickup, identified as 42-year-old Troy Schwartz of Beatrice, tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Emergency services, including paramedics and firefighters, arrived promptly to manage the situation. Firefighters worked to extract the vehicles involved, while paramedics confirmed Schwartz’s passing. 

The semi-truck driver, a 34-year-old Florida man, and his passenger were unharmed in the crash. Authorities implemented traffic control measures to manage the flow of vehicles while the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol began their investigation into the cause of the incident.
