Omaha, NE (December 21, 2024) – An injury car crash occurred late Friday night on North Freeway northbound near Parker St, resulting in multiple injuries and one person fleeing the scene. Emergency crews responded promptly, and extensive efforts were required to manage the situation.
The incident unfolded at approximately 11:53 p.m. when two cars collided, leaving one party pinned inside a vehicle that struck a tree. Emergency responders from OFD, including Engine 5, Truck 21, and Rescue units, arrived to extricate the trapped individuals.
A male in his 30s, who lost control of his car, was pinned but later freed by rescue teams. He was transported by OFD Medic 5 to a trauma center with Code 3 priority, showing signs of confusion and a Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) of 14. A female in her 40s was also transported by Medic 1 with Code 2 priority for head and facial injuries.
Additionally, OFD Medic 2 transported two more patients with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities completely shut down the northbound lanes of the freeway to manage the scene and ensure safety.
Traffic investigators and ABLE-1 helicopters were requested after reports indicated that one individual fled the crash site. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing.
