Omaha, NE (December 17, 2024) – A serious injury car crash occurred Tuesday morning on I-80 westbound near the merger with I-480 and the JFK ramp, causing significant traffic disruptions in Omaha.
The accident happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. and involved a van and a sedan. The impact caused the van to roll onto its side while the sedan overturned onto its roof. Emergency responders, including the Omaha Fire Department and paramedics, arrived promptly to assist. Crews worked to extract occupants from the cars, with at least one injured individual transported to Nebraska Medical Center for treatment.
To manage the scene and ensure public safety, authorities temporarily closed three westbound lanes on I-80, the ramp from I-480 southbound, and the northbound JFK ramp to I-80. Cleanup crews cleared the wreckage, and normal traffic flow resumed later in the morning.
Our thoughts and condolences are with the individuals and families affected by this unfortunate accident.
