Serious Car Accidents in Lincoln
As traffic incidents continue to impact Lincoln’s roadways, accidents at intersections highlight the risks drivers face daily. Collisions involving high speeds and right-of-way violations frequently result in severe injuries, underscoring the importance of cautious driving. According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT), in 2023, there were over 35,000 reported traffic crashes statewide, resulting in more than 12,000 injuries and 250 fatalities. Of those crashes, nearly 40% occurred at intersections, demonstrating the heightened danger of these high-traffic areas.

In Lincoln specifically, intersection-related crashes remain a significant concern. NDOT data shows that Lancaster County, where Lincoln is located, consistently ranks among the top counties in Nebraska for serious traffic accidents. In 2022 alone, over 3,000 crashes were reported in Lancaster County, with nearly 800 of them leading to injuries. Factors such as distracted driving, speeding, and failure to yield contribute to these incidents, emphasizing the need for heightened awareness and adherence to traffic laws to prevent further tragedies on Nebraska’s roads.
