Omaha, NE (May 23, 2025) – Three people suffered injuries in a serious crash involving multiple vehicles on Thursday night, May 22, in Omaha.
The accident happened around 8:34 p.m. near the intersection of 62nd Street and Blondo Street. The Omaha Fire Department responded with several emergency units.
First responders found multiple victims and significant vehicle damage. A woman in her 30s had cuts on her arm and showed signs of intoxication. Medics transported her to the hospital under Code 2 status, which indicates non-life-threatening injuries.
Another woman in her 50s was pinned in one of the vehicles. She reported pain in her lower back and legs. Crews freed her from the wreckage and transported her as a Code 3 trauma case. She was fully conscious and alert with a Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score of 15. A man in his 50s also suffered injuries, including a cut to his ear. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Due to the severity of the crash and the need for extrication, the incident was upgraded to a “pin response.” A third ambulance was requested to assist with care. Tow trucks were called to remove the damaged vehicles from the road. Authorities have not confirmed the cause of the crash or how many vehicles were involved. An investigation is still underway.
We send our best wishes for recovery to all those injured in this incident.
Multi-Vehicle Collisions in Omaha
Multi-vehicle accidents like the one at 62nd St and Blondo St can result in serious, life-changing injuries. Omaha sees dozens of such crashes each year, especially in high-traffic areas where driver decisions must be made quickly. Intersections often pose increased risks due to turning lanes, changing signals, and unexpected stops.
According to data from the Nebraska Department of Transportation, over 13,000 injury crashes occurred statewide in 2023. A significant portion involved more than two vehicles, often leading to complex emergency responses. Factors contributing to these collisions include impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and failing to yield.
The impact on victims can be enormous. In addition to immediate injuries, crash survivors often face long recovery periods. They may deal with high medical costs, loss of income, and emotional distress. Some may need rehabilitation or ongoing therapy.
When victims are hurt in a crash caused by another driver’s negligence, they may be entitled to compensation. This can include payment for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering. In more severe cases, victims may also seek compensation for permanent disability or loss of quality of life.
Personal injury attorneys help crash victims understand their rights and legal options. An attorney can investigate the accident, collect evidence, speak with witnesses, and negotiate with insurance companies to secure a fair outcome.
