Lancaster Co, NE (January 18, 2025) – A fatal construction accident occurred on Thursday, January 16, claiming the life of a Lincoln man at a rural construction site north of Waverly. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office reported the incident, which happened around 12:27 p.m. at a residential site on North 148th Street.
Emergency responders, including Waverly Fire and Rescue and Lincoln Fire and Rescue, were dispatched to the scene for a medical emergency. Upon arrival, they found 36-year-old Elder Divas Carias, who had fallen through an unsecured sheet of construction plywood. Despite life-saving measures, Divas Carias was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities quickly secured the site, managing traffic and ensuring the safety of others while beginning an investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled, and the investigation remains ongoing.
