Omaha, NE (February 8, 2025) – Four people, including a 14-month-old child, were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash early Friday morning, February 7, in Omaha.
The collision occurred just before 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of 30th Street and Q Street. According to Omaha Police, a westbound Honda attempted to turn south onto 30th Street but collided with an eastbound Nissan, thus resulting in a crash.
Emergency crews arrived on the scene and transported all four occupants of the Nissan to Nebraska Medicine with serious injuries. Authorities confirmed that one of the victims, a 14-month-old, is receiving treatment for a severe injury.
The driver of the Honda was cited for Failure to Yield the Right of Way and for driving without a license.
At this time, further details regarding the conditions of the injured victims remain unknown. Investigators are working to determine if other factors contributed to the accident.
Our thoughts are with those injured in this crash, and we hope for their full recovery.
Car Accidents in Nebraska
Car accidents in Nebraska can lead to significant injuries and life-altering consequences. Each year, thousands of crashes occur across the state, with a substantial portion involving failure to yield violations. In 2022, the Nebraska Department of Transportation reported over 30,000 crashes, with hundreds resulting in severe injuries or fatalities. Intersections, like 30th Street and Q Street, are particularly common locations for accidents due to traffic congestion and right-of-way errors.
Understanding what to do after a car accident can be critical. Here are a few important steps victims should take:
Seek Medical Attention Immediately – Even if injuries seem minor at first, some conditions can worsen over time. A thorough medical evaluation is crucial to document injuries and begin treatment.
Document the Scene – If possible, take pictures of the vehicles, road conditions, and any visible injuries. Gathering witness statements can also help establish what happened.
Follow Up on Medical Care – Keeping up with doctor visits and following medical advice ensures proper recovery and creates a clear record of injury-related expenses.
Be Cautious with Insurance Companies – Insurers may attempt to settle quickly for less than what victims deserve. Consulting with a legal professional before accepting an offer is often beneficial.
After a crash, seeking legal guidance is essential. A dedicated Omaha car accident attorney can help navigate the aftermath of a collision, ensuring that victims receive fair compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Acting quickly after an accident can make a significant difference in the outcome of a claim.
