Omaha, NE (December 29, 2024) – An injury fire occurred on Sunday evening near the intersection of 58th & Corby St in Omaha, critically injuring one individual. The Omaha Fire Department (OFD) responded to the emergency call at approximately 6:37 p.m., with additional resources dispatched shortly after a working fire was declared at 6:47 p.m.
According to OFD reports, multiple units arrived swiftly to contain the blaze, including Engine 24, Engine 21, Engine 41, Truck 41, and others. Primary and secondary searches confirmed no other individuals remained inside the home. The fire was declared under control at 6:50 p.m.
One victim, who sustained severe injuries, was rescued from the burning structure and transported to Nebraska Medical Center by M24 with Code 99 Trauma status. Emergency responders worked diligently to stabilize the victim en route. No other injuries were reported among residents or first responders.
The Omaha Police Department (OPD) managed traffic around the area to ensure safety and facilitate emergency operations. Fire Investigation Unit (FIU) personnel are currently examining the cause of the fire, and further updates are expected.
