Omaha, NE (May 26, 2025) – A man in his 20s was hurt early May 25 after a violent rollover crash at the intersection of 62nd Street and Center Street in Omaha.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene shortly after 2:20 a.m. Authorities initially believed the man was pinned under the vehicle, but later confirmed no entrapment occurred.
Medics with the Omaha Fire Department’s M34 unit responded and transported the victim to Bergan Mercy Medical Center under a trauma alert. Reports state the man had been driving without a seatbelt, rolled the car, and hit a utility pole. He may have attempted to flee the crash scene and was possibly struck by another vehicle.
The injured man was described as conscious, though intoxicated and visibly distressed, with several cuts and bruises. The exact events leading up to the crash are still under investigation.
We extend our sincere wishes for recovery to the individual injured in this incident.
Rollover Accidents in Omaha
Rollover crashes are some of the most severe accidents seen on Nebraska roads. These crashes often lead to traumatic injuries and lasting
effects, especially when alcohol and lack of seatbelt use are factors. In the early morning crash at 62nd St and Center St, the driver—reportedly unrestrained and possibly intoxicated—rolled his vehicle and struck a utility pole. Such behavior is unfortunately common in late-night or early-morning collisions.
According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, rollover crashes account for a significant portion of fatal and serious injury accidents statewide. Speeding, distracted driving, and impaired driving are leading causes. When a person isn’t wearing a seatbelt during a rollover, the chance of being ejected from the vehicle increases dramatically, often resulting in more severe injuries or death.
Even if the accident doesn’t involve another vehicle, victims can still pursue compensation—especially when other factors like road design, faulty vehicle parts, or third-party negligence may have played a role. Injured drivers and passengers may be entitled to damages that cover medical expenses, time off work, pain and suffering, and more.
Victims of rollover accidents often face an uphill battle when dealing with insurance companies and other parties involved. Insurance adjusters may try to shift blame or minimize payouts. A personal injury lawyer can help by launching an independent investigation, gathering critical evidence, securing witness testimony, and negotiating aggressively for fair compensation. This can include payment for ER visits, surgeries, physical therapy, and long-term care needs.
