Otoe County, NE (November 29, 2024) – A serious semi-trailer crash occurred early Thursday morning in Otoe County, critically injuring a 17-year-old boy. The collision occurred around 5:50 a.m. on Hwy 2 near the County Rd G intersection, just west of Unadilla.
According to the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office, a pickup truck traveling westbound in the eastbound lane collided head-on with a semi. Emergency responders, including local fire crews and paramedics, arrived quickly to assist the victims, manage traffic, and secure the area.
The teen driver of the pickup, a Tecumseh resident, was extricated from the vehicle by firefighters and airlifted to a hospital in Lincoln with serious injuries. Two occupants of the semi were also injured and transported by ambulance to local hospitals. Their conditions remain unknown.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash, but the reason for the pickup crossing into oncoming traffic has not yet been determined. Hwy 2 was closed for several hours as authorities cleared debris and worked to restore normal traffic flow.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to the victims of this crash and their families. We wish all those injured a full and speedy recovery.
