Woodland Park, NE (June 8, 2025) – Two drivers were hurt in a crash that occurred on Thursday, June 5, near Woodland Park. The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident just before 8 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 35 and 844th Road.
Officials said a Mustang SUV was turning onto Hwy 35 when it pulled into the path of a northbound Honda Accord. The crash caused the SUV to spin and the Accord to veer off the road into a ditch on the north side.
The SUV driver, 22-year-old McKenzie Carpenter of Neligh, and the Accord driver, 48-year-old Heather Lenox of Norfolk, both suffered injuries. Emergency crews transported them to Faith Regional Health Services. According to authorities, Lenox had to be removed from her car by first responders.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and airbags in both vehicles deployed. The crash left both vehicles totaled.
The Stanton County Emergency Management and Hoskins/Woodland Park Fire assisted at the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
We send our best wishes for recovery to those injured in this accident.
