Lincoln, NE (April 8, 2024) – A serious two-car crash occurred on April 7 in downtown Lincoln, sending both drivers to the hospital with suspected serious injuries. The collision took place at approximately 12:57 p.m. at the intersection of 17th Street and P Street.
According to the Lincoln Police Department, a Toyota RAV4 driven by a woman from Axtell was traveling east on P St when she collided with a northbound Subaru Crosstrek, driven by a Lincoln man, under circumstances that are still being looked into by law enforcement officials. The impact pushed the Subaru into a red post near the entrance of the University of Nebraska Federal Credit Union, stopping just short of the building’s brick wall.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded quickly to the scene and transported both drivers to a nearby hospital with suspected serious injuries. Firefighters assisted in extricating one of the drivers from their vehicle. Police closed the intersection for several hours to investigate the crash and clear the scene. The area has since been reopened.
