Dawson Co, NE – Driver Killed in Semi-Truck Crash on I-80

Dawson Co, NE (February 12, 2025) – A fatal crash occurred on Wednesday morning in Dawson County, claiming the life of one individual. The incident, reported by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, happened on Interstate 80 near Overton.  

According to authorities, the crash occurred when a westbound car collided with the trailer of a stationary semi-truck. The semi had stopped because another truck blocked both westbound lanes. The impact left the car severely damaged, requiring emergency responders to extricate the driver from the wreckage.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. First responders, including Overton Fire and Rescue, Nebraska State Patrol, and the Dawson County Attorney’s Office, managed traffic control and assisted in clearing the roadway. The Nebraska Department of Transportation also responded to assess road conditions, as snow-covered roads were reported at the time of the crash. Neither of the semi-truck drivers sustained injuries. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
