Omaha, NE (March 19, 2025) – A motorcycle injury car crash occurred on Thursday afternoon at the intersection of 50th St and Farnam St, resulting in serious injuries to an elderly male rider. The incident happened around 1:45 p.m., involving a motorcycle and a vehicle. Emergency responders, including the Omaha Fire Department (OFD) and medical units, arrived quickly.
According to the OFD, crews found an 80-year-old male motorcycle rider with an obvious clavicle injury. The injured rider was transported to Nebraska Medical Center as a Code 3 Trauma case. Authorities managed traffic control while firefighters assisted in extracting the rider and securing the vehicles involved.
The circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation by local authorities, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
Our thoughts go out to the injured victim and their family during this difficult time.
Injury Car Accidents in Omaha
In recent years, Omaha has experienced a troubling increase in traffic-related injuries and fatalities. Factors such as excessive speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving contribute significantly to these incidents. Motorcyclists, like the elderly rider involved in the recent crash at 50th St and Farnam St, are particularly vulnerable, especially when safety equipment like helmets is not properly used or located after accidents.
Communities of color in Omaha are disproportionately affected by traffic accidents due to historical factors like underinvestment in infrastructure and inadequate safety measures. Victims of car accidents may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, property damage, and pain and suffering. In Nebraska, personal injury claims generally have a statute of limitations of four years, but consulting with an attorney early on is advisable. Additionally, Nebraska’s modified comparative negligence rule allows victims to recover damages even if they are partially at fault, as long as their fault is less than 50%.
