Omaha, NE (December 22, 2024) – A serious injury car crash occurred late Thursday morning on Interstate 80 westbound at 50th St, involving two cars and leaving one individual with significant injuries. The incident was reported by Omaha Fire Department (OFD) at approximately 11:17 a.m.
According to emergency responders, the collision caused a 63-year-old female to become pinned inside her vehicle. OFD personnel, including units E3, M34, M3, TR31, R60, and B5, arrived on the scene to extricate the victim from the wreckage. Firefighters utilized specialized rescue equipment to remove her from the vehicle safely.
M34 transported the injured individual to the hospital under Code 3 Trauma Activation. She was reported to be experiencing chest pains and memory loss related to the crash. The condition of the other driver involved remains unknown at this time.
The Nebraska State Patrol and local law enforcement officers directed traffic and conducted an initial investigation. I-80 WB experienced significant delays as authorities worked to clear the scene and restore the flow of traffic.
