Omaha, NE - Severe Motorcycle Crash on Dodge St and 38th St

Omaha, NE (July 22, 2024) – A severe motorcycle crash occurred on Monday, July 22, in Omaha, leaving one individual critically injured. The incident, reported by the Omaha Police Department, occurred at approximately 7:50 a.m. at the intersection of Dodge Street and 38th Street in Midtown.

According to the Omaha Police Department, a 22-year-old motorcyclist was traveling eastbound when he collided with a Ford E350 crossing Dodge Street. The impact caused the motorcycle to strike the side of the truck, puncturing its gas tank. Fuel spilled onto the ground, and the strong odor of gasoline filled the area.

The crash resulted in the closure of the eastbound lanes of Dodge Street at 40th Street for about three hours. Authorities urged drivers to use Harney or Farnam Streets as alternate routes, which led to even slower traffic due to ongoing construction in the area. The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Omaha Police Department is currently investigating the incident.

We hope the injured victim recovers swiftly and completely from their injuries.
